Listening to Senator Elizabeth Warren grill the bank regulators about their deficiencies in bringing big banking malefactors to trial and punishment, it becomes clear that the criminals are running the country by running away from justice with tiny slaps on the wrist and trampling over us. You would think the country existed only for their benefit.
Repeatedly, our local Darth Evaders shoot off their dark-souled keyboards pushing biased beliefs. All they know is stuff they repeat, raising again the rightist canard of “tax-and-spend” against Obama with no attention to fact. Federal spending is way down, relative to spending by Bush-Cheney. Obama has yet to try for the levels of taxation we actually need to get out of the hole they dug for us to fall into. Corporate taxes are lower than under Reagan. At heart, I suspect the Darth boys prefers a big war with Iran to peaceful evolution of accord.
We have seen MSNBC graphs showing how disinformation has started from wingnut blogs and reached circulation clear up into Senate hearings via questions instigated by falsehood that was magnified by the Fox News gab circuit with loops into NewsMax, WorldNetDaily, Drudge Report, Limbaugh rant and Republican’s wishful gullibility tempered only by malice and given flickery respectabilty by National Review or Wall Street Journal. What gets said and written, twice repeated by Fox and heard by those senators who never doubt a far-right source, becomes, at least for a week, “GOP Fact.”
In view of the clear disconnect in Rand Paul’s query to Hillary about Libyan arms being shipped to Turkey, Paul’s given name should be spelled, r-a-n-t. He doesn’t deserve the “d” of “Rand” that suggests South Africa’s golden value. He belongs there forty years ago. Our Darth Evaders, too, should have been born there a century ago and died happy twenty years before liberation from apartheid. That was their kind of world. Repressive. Divided. Property centered rather than people serving.
Chris Hedges’ “The Myth of Human Progress” states:[see link below] “The human species, led by white Europeans and Euro-Americans, has been on a 500-year-long planetwide rampage of conquering, plundering, looting, exploiting and polluting the Earth — as well as killing the indigenous communities that stood in the way. But the game is up. The technical and scientific forces that created a life of unparalleled luxury-as well as unrivaled military and economic power-for the industrial elites are the forces that now doom us.” . . . “We have failed to control human numbers. They have tripled in my lifetime. And the problem is made much worse by the widening gap between rich and poor, the upward concentration of wealth, which ensures there can never be enough to go around. The number of people in dire poverty today—about 2 billion—is greater than the world’s entire population in the early 1900s. That’s not progress.”

Anyone who has the patience to read a two part article by Noam Chomsky has a chance to learn what is happening in our current situation and why. Few writers offer a more comprehensive and cogent analysis of our nation’s troubled condition. Chomsky will so challenge our more pig-headed readers as to rouse ad-hominem objecction to all he says because of who and what they peg him to be. Because he does not support pig-pen views, they will squeal “He’s a Socialist” and ignore him.
